Welcome to the
Primary Psych Program (PPP)
The Primary Psychological Program (PPP) provides early access to evidence-based psychological treatment for people recovering from a work-related injury or event. The program offers structured assessment and therapy with a qualified psychologist to support emotional wellbeing, recovery, and return to everyday activities, including work. Care is delivered via phone or video and tailored to individual needs.
About PPP
-
PPP (Primary Psychological Program) is a short-term psychological treatment program that provides access to a psychologist to support recovery after a work-related injury or event. It focuses on addressing emotional, psychological, and stress-related concerns that may be affecting wellbeing, recovery, or return to everyday activities, including work.
-
People are referred to PPP when psychological support may be helpful as part of their recovery. This can include experiencing stress, anxiety, low mood, sleep issues, pain-related distress, or difficulty coping following an injury or work-related event.
-
After referral, a psychologist will contact you to explain the program and arrange an initial assessment. This assessment helps understand what support may be most helpful for you and whether PPP is the right fit for your needs.
-
The assessment involves talking with a psychologist about how you’re feeling, how your injury or experience is affecting you, and what challenges you may be facing. This may take place over video or phone and helps guide the most appropriate treatment approach.
-
If you proceed with the program, treatment involves structured therapy sessions with a psychologist. Therapy is tailored to your needs and may include evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), EMDR, or other psychological therapies designed to support recovery and improve coping.
-
PPP provides a course of treatment, with the number of sessions based on individual needs. This is usually between 10 and 24 sessions.
